It always feel...Dear Autism Mom - I love your blog! It always feels like I'm reading my own diary. I soo know your pain! More than one person in my own family has made this dreamy offer: "Give me just one week with your kid and ...". I'm sure most asd parents (mostly moms, honestly) can fill in the blank. Like I imagine you'd say to these generous offers, " 'Over my dead body' would I subject my child to that torture!" For 23 yrs now, I've had only my mom who "gets it" - feels like we're a family of 3 despite the dozens of us. Why is it so hard for people to understand? And if getting it is just too difficult, why not ask "What can I do?" instead of the IGNORANT suggestions and advice that NEVER cease. Ever notice that most people only want to advise? If you disagree, they want nothing to do with helping out...OK, my rant is done. Thanks for the forum and for putting into words what so many of us think and feel. I wish we all could meet and form our own 'sorority' of wicked funny and wise, bad-ass asd moms so that none of us would feel so alone. I haven't been able to find another group as insightful as so many are here. Take care and know that all of us Anonymous(es?) GET YOU! :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
